Albania and Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the employment of Vietnamese workers in Albania.
The agreement was signed in Vietnam on July 29 by Albanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj and representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs, according to Vietnamese newspaper Lao Dong.
Under the agreement, Vietnamese workers will be guaranteed equal treatment in employment relations, as well as wages, working conditions, and social benefits in accordance with Albanian law.
Workers will not be required to pay recruitment or travel costs before leaving Vietnam. These expenses will instead be covered by their employers.
According to the Vietnamese side, Albania needs between 20,000 and 30,000 foreign workers. This figure refers to Albania’s overall demand for foreign labor, rather than to a specific quota for Vietnamese workers.
Demand is concentrated in tourism, hotels and restaurants, manufacturing, construction, high-tech agriculture and transport, particularly for workers with vocational skills and knowledge of foreign languages.
Albania has also expressed its willingness to cooperate in providing vocational training to Vietnamese workers before their departure.
The responsible authorities in both countries are expected to draw up an implementation plan covering recruitment criteria, training, and the exchange of information about Albania’s labor market needs.
