Caligula's Horse in Kavaja

The Assembly of the Socialist Party in Kavaja has made a selection of six candidates for the Municipality of Kavaja after Elvis Rroshi was dismissed in the context of the decriminalization law. One of those candidates is Silvana Daja, the wife of the head of the PS in Kavaja, Gentian Daja. After her candidacy was announced, Gentian Daja withdrew from the PS leadership in Kavaja under the justification of avoiding a conflict of interest. Regardless of Daja's decision, the candidacy of his wife shows that the Socialist Party is increasingly transforming into a family affair, not unlike the history of the Roman emperor Caligula, which wanted to nominate his horse Incitatus as member of the Senate. The relation between former mayor Elvis Rroshi and Gentian Daja goes beyond politics – they are business partners. Until 2011, Elvis Rroshi has been the director of Ergi Security, owned by Gentian Daja. Rroshi withdrew as director after he was elected mayor of Kavaja, and the firm is currently directed by Gentian Daja.

Caius Julius Cesar Germanicus, also known as Caligula, was Emperor of the Roman Empire from 37 to 41 CE. He became emperor at a young age. Thanks to his family and his period in the army he was support by everyone. But once he was nominated emperor, Caligula turned into a dictator.

He is now remembered as a person with mental problems, aggressive, autocratic, narcissistic, and egocentric. He wasn't accountable to anyone and ignored the Senate.

His reign was characterized by the internal persecutions and opposition, pharaonic and useless public works, large displays of public propaganda and an enormous waste of money to buy the support of the people.

But he is most remembered for the story of his horse. It is told that he nominated his favorite horse, which whom he ate and relaxed, as Roman senator to show the Roman senators, who didn't hide their disapproval of his government, that the Senator didn't have any value to the Emperor. His final aim was to change the role of the emperor, which at that still had to respond to the Senate for his decision, into an absolute monarchy.

It is told that in the final period of rule he wanted to be addressed as God, but he ended up being killed by his guards.
