Albanian President Ilir Meta supports Europa Nostra’s stance that the demolition of the National Theater by the government “marks the beginning of a real awakening of civil society in Albania, led by artists and intellectuals.”
In a Facebook post, Meta wrote: “Let this miserable event be the one to mark the beginning of a true awakening of civil society in Albania.”
On Sunday, May 24, Europa Nostra, addressed a letter to the Alliance for the Protection of Theater, recognizing its work in attempting to protect the National Theater and wished the event would rouse Albanian society.
